Do you have skills which are demanded on internet? Are you looking for work from home job? Or you are hard at your luck to be a dream freelance? We all know that there are many making money ways which allow people to sit back at home and work. The most known, cheap and reliable way is provide a skillset you are experienced in. You might have seen dozens of examples of professionals out there that are earning alot of money by selling their skills but you may be not one of them.
So what happens you are rejected everytime? Is it lack of expertise and skills - may not be in your case. I can quote thousands of non-professionals who have become wealthy just by maintaining a perfect freelance profile. Yes, you need to look and work at your contractor profile. We are here to explain all online job-seekers what it really takes to earn their desired freelance project.
You don't have to think too technically - there is no rocket science involved. There are a few simple and sense-making tips and tricks you should make sure before applying on a work-from-home job. The most important thing is to be focused at your core competencies and take relevant actions.
So I am going to listed down the to-do-checklist for all online job-seekers and freelancers who have not been responded as they would have expected:
  1. Make a Relevant Contractor Profile: The idea is basically: don't make a "MESSED UP" profile - stick to one core area and work on it. In this way you will be more confident and have more chances of getting hired. Mention your experience, intention and skills straight in your profile - consider this is your first impression. Before applying to an work-from-home job you should be well aware off and as all popular online job websites stress that you make a profile which describes your profession and skills. Assume your profile is your website and you must have to make it specific to your best skilled areas. Must make sure it is 100% complete and verified by the website. Complete in a sense, you have put everything like experience, resume, your photo etc.
  2. Add in a Portfolio: Portfolio puts a high impact on worker's profile. Since every employer prefer an experienced person than a fresher, you should have add work history however it is not compulsory. If you have past experience on the same website, it will be shown in straightaway. But if you are a new contractor you must have to add a portfolio manually. Prefer to add a relevant and profile-matching portfolio instead of one which is neither here neither there.
  3. How to Apply and Prepare a  Cover Letter: A cover is your message to employer which goes with your job application. It should be friendly and enjoyable to read. Job cover is most important part of wining an online work opportunity. Three things will count here: your understanding of job description, tone and content of cover. Beware, a job application without reading and understanding work or requirement of employer is like waste paper. Remember the following things before you write a cover:
3.1 First of all get a clear understanding of job description then start your cover with a greeting message. It is worth-knowing that a cover page must be precise and through-the-point. Too lengthy covers can also result in rejection of your application.
See if employer name or company name is available in job description, it will be better. In this way you can start with "good morning", "good afternoon" or simply wishing him a good day. If you know his name write it with greeting word.
3.2 If name is not available, then start your cover with "Hello Sir", "Dear Employer" or anything you can think better.
3.3 Straightaway after greeting, talk with employer. Depending your message content the employer will accept or reject your job application. Address his asked details and professionally reply his questions. Don't add irrelevant details than job description. If you are experienced in his requirement, don't wait to show the examples with the help of URLs or attachments.
3.4 Things to be remembered: you should not mention something like you are new or which shows lack of confidence. Be friendly in your tone but show your skills and experience on top.
  4. Deciding Hourly Rate: Your hourly rate depends on your experience, ratings and portfolio. If you new in earning online you should set a lowest price. If you have been working for a few months then no worries to send a higher rate than other freelancers. Remember, earning online takes time so in start don't be so greedy. Try to work at lower price and earlier than others. The main objective of starting online work is to get high feedback.
  5. Concluding Job Application: You must understand that from start to end, you cover should talk only about the area which are asked by employer. Also avoid lengthy and irrelevant details - it will put an awkward impression on employer. If you need to tell other information you can add your profile link in the bottom of your cover. Finally, conclude your job application with refreshing and enjoyable tone.
